Skills Canada PEI is a registered charity created in partnership with government, industry, educational and labour institutions. It is part of a larger national organization whose mandate is to encourage youth to consider skills and technology-based career options, which help fuel economic growth for the province and the country, while creating interesting and challenging employment opportunities for young Canadians.
Skills Canada PEI also exists to help employers recruit the highly skilled professionals they need to fill a growing number of technical positions. We work with industry and educational institutions to identify programs that will prepare youth with the work-ready skills and training employer's need. And Skills Canada encourages excellence in those fields.
Our economy is changing. Technology and skills are becoming more and more important in Prince Edward Island and in Canada. And with the right training, technology fields present great employment opportunities for our youth. Skills Canada PEI exists to build awareness of these opportunities, and to help youth make smart career choices. Ones that can lead to meaningful, long-term employment.

Welcome to Skills Canada PEI Website - a resource to explore career opportunities in the skilled trades and technologies! Please browse this website to explore information about Skills Canada - Prince Edward Island.
Skills/Compétences Canada - Prince Edward Island is a not-for-profit organization, which works with industry, employers, educators and governments to promote trade and technical careers as a first choice career option for Canadian youth.
A lack of information regarding the opportunities in trades and technology prohibits many young Canadians from considering a career in skilled trades. Through provincial, national and international skills competitions, Skills Canada - PEI helps make these occupations more visible for teachers, students, parents and the general public. The competitions are an incredible display of hands-on expertise, talent and determination which showcases the many promising futures to be found in trades and technology.
In 2007, our provincial skills competition was held between January 27 and March 5 at various locations across our Island. The Skills Canada PEI Competition showcased 30 trade and technology based contests at both secondary and post-secondary levels.
I would like to thank our partners and the many volunteers who assist us throughout the year by sharing their time and talents with youth exploring career opportunities in the skilled trades and technologies. Our economy is changing. Technology and skills are becoming more important in Prince Edward Island and Canada. With the right training, technology and trades fields present great employment opportunities.
